Since January 12, 2010, Canada's humanitarian assistance and recovery efforts in Haiti have successfully improved the living conditions of Haitians.
In this section, 12-year-old Angela and several of her fellow Haitians tell how they have benefited from projects funded by CIDA and its partners.
These projects are in line with the three priority themes that the Government of Canada has established to guide CIDA's work and to strengthen the effectiveness of Canada's development assistance:
Other projects focus on humanitarian assistance and governance, a crosscutting theme that CIDA integrates in its programming.
CIDA has been committed to helping Haiti for several decades. One year after the earthquake, and the needs are still enormous. CIDA is determined to continue working to assist the most deprived by pursuing its reconstruction and development efforts in Haiti in the years to come.
Canada's assistance to Haiti extends well beyond post-earthquake intervention. It also aims to give all Haitian for themselves access to the international aid they vitally need to build a better future.
