Mandate

CIDA's Canadian regional employees support Canada's international cooperation efforts by promoting engagement in international development and by informing the public about CIDA's policies, programs, and projects. These employees offer individuals, groups, and companies direct access to:

• Information about CIDA
• Help for those wishing to work with CIDA
• Support for those who want to be more engaged in international development issues and activities

Through these employees, CIDA also benefits from an enhanced understanding of regional issues and concerns regarding international development as well as insights into regional characteristics and perspectives.

What type of assistance can you expect from regional staff?

CIDA employees in the regions:

• Respond directly to inquiries from individuals and entities in the region
• Facilitate contact between individuals and entities in the region and the appropriate programs and employees within CIDA
• Advise regional entities on aid effectiveness resources and principles
• Deliver presentations and seminars to groups wishing to know more about international development
• Organize visits to the regions by CIDA representatives, including the Minister
• Inform regional partners and stakeholders about CIDA program developments through regular newsletters and notices
• Serve as CIDA's main liaison with provincial governments and municipalities and with regional offices of other federal departments

CIDA's regional staff in Canada

In promoting Canada's international cooperation efforts, CIDA retains staff across the country to encourage participation in its activities and to provide coaching and support to Canadian organizations wishing to work on development initiatives.

Regional employees are located in the Atlantic region (Halifax and Moncton), the Pacific region (Vancouver), and the Prairies (Calgary and Saskatoon).
